Casa Rio has stood on the San Antonio River Walk since 1946, when it became the first restaurant to open its doors along the river. The building itself is a Spanish Colonial hacienda on land first granted in 1777 by the King of Spain, with original thick rock walls, cedar lintels, and a working fireplace. Now in its fourth generation of family ownership under Los Leones, Casa Rio helped shape the River Walk's early character, from its colorful riverside umbrellas to its river barges. For private events, the venue offers several distinct spaces along the water. The Texas Room, the largest of the private rooms, is furnished in early Texas decor around a century-old solid oak bar and can combine with the adjoining Rio Room and Trophy Room for larger receptions. The Veranda Room is hung with colorful Mexican tapestries and string lights and looks out over the pedestrian bridge and the Torch of Friendship. For a more intimate gathering, groups can book a private river barge for a floating dinner on the San Antonio River. The Texas Tech Club is a private social and business club located inside Jones AT&T Stadium on the campus of Texas Tech University in Lubbock, offering panoramic views of the stadium and downtown Lubbock. It was founded in 2010 by 58 professional, civic, and social leaders from Texas Tech University and the Lubbock community, with approval from the Texas Tech Board of Regents, opening in time for the first Red Raider game of the 2010 season. The Club hosts weddings, rehearsal dinners, corporate meetings, and banquets ranging from six to 300 guests for seated events and up to 600 guests for receptions, across event spaces that include West Club South and North, West Suite South and North (which can be conjoined for larger events), East Suite Level, Matador Suite, Suite 402, and a selection of smaller suites. The Barnhill Complex is a multi-purpose conference and event center located midway between Houston and Austin. The Simon Theatre, which opened in 1925 and was designed in the majestic Beaux-Arts Classical Revival architectural style, provided a magnificent venue for many theater events, film screenings, and ballroom dances. French Country Meadow is an event venue located in Wichita Falls, Texas, that serves the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Darrin and Kim French, husband and wife, run French Country Meadow, which is a family-owned business. Since 1935, Joe T. Garcia's Mexican Restaurant has been a Fort Worth institution. Mr. and Mrs. Joe T. Garcia founded the restaurant, and it has remained in the Garcia family ever since. Throughout the restaurant and on our famed patio, there are signs of a long family heritage. Joe T. Garcia's had become one of the most popular restaurants in the Dallas-Fort Worth area by the 1970s. The restaurant began to expand not only in popularity but also in size as a result of their loyal consumers. The first addition was a modest patio with a pool and cabana.
