Our renovated barn's chandelier-lit breezeway is a vast and majestic entrance, yet intimate and welcome for you and your guests. From the time you walk in, you can see the pond. The Reception Hall is entered through a wide entryway with gift and cake tables. When the weather permits, a fire can be lit in the stone fireplace at the far end of the Reception Hall. A spacious deck is accessible from the Reception Hall. The Flying M Bar serves your favorite beverages in the Reception Hall and on the balcony. All of the guest rooms have excellent views of the pond. The breezeway, Reception Hall, Flying M Bar, and deck are all under the same roof as the dining service area for buffet style meals, the bride's private dressing room and restroom, and the men's and women's restrooms, making everything easily accessible and handy for your guests. From Galveston to Houston In 1870 a group of Masons gathered frequently for lunch at the Knickerbocker Cottage on Sixth Avenue in New York City. At a special table on the second floor, a particularly fun-loving group of men met regularly. Among the regulars were Walter M. Fleming, M.D. and William J. “Billy” Florence, an actor. The group frequently talked about starting a new fraternity for Masons – one centered on fun and fellowship, more than ritual. Fleming and Florence took this idea seriously enough to do something about it. ​ Billy Florence had been on tour in France and had been invited to a party given by an Arabian diplomat. The exotic style, flavors, and music of the Arabian-themed party inspired him to suggest this as a theme for the new fraternity. Walter Fleming, a devoted fraternity brother, built on Fleming’s ideas and used his knowledge of fraternal ritual to transform the Arabian theme into the Ancient Arabic Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine (A.A.O.N.M.S.). ​ With the help of the Knickerbocker Cottage regulars, Fleming drafted the ritual, designed the emblem and costumes, formulated a salutation and declared that members would wear the red fez. The first meeting of Mecca Shriners, the first temple (chapter) established in the United States, was held September 26, 1872. As word got out about the fledgling organization, membership grew rapidly, spreading across the U.S. In the early 1900s, membership spread into Canada, Mexico, and Panama. Today, Shriners International is a fraternity with nearly 200 temples in several countries, thousands of clubs around the world and hundreds of thousands of members dedicated to the principles of brotherly love, relief and truth.

McPherson Cellars occupies a restored Coca-Cola bottling plant in downtown Lubbock's historic Depot District, where a tasting room, lofty industrial interior, and outdoor courtyard combine to host weddings, corporate functions, rehearsal dinners, and private celebrations. The winery traces its roots to Dr. Clinton "Doc" McPherson, who began experimenting with vine plantings on the Texas High Plains in the 1960s and helped found the Texas High Plains AVA. His son, winemaker Kim McPherson, studied enology and viticulture at UC Davis and worked in Napa Valley before returning home to continue his father's work. The winery sources its grapes exclusively from High Plains growers, including Lahey Vineyards, Timmons Estate, and Lost Draw Vineyards, farmed at elevations between 2,800 and 4,000 feet. For events, the Event Center, Tasting Room, Private Tasting Room, and outdoor courtyard can be booked together or separately, accommodating gatherings from intimate cocktail receptions to weddings of up to 200 guests. An in-house event manager helps coordinate each booking from planning through event day.

Housed in the former Lone Star Brewery on the San Antonio River, the San Antonio Museum of Art occupies a complex built between 1895 and 1904, its twin towers and crenellated parapets still marking the site on Jones Avenue. The brewery closed during Prohibition and later served as a cotton mill, ice factory, and auto repair shop before falling into disrepair; museum director Jack McGregor rediscovered the building in 1971, and philanthropist Nancy Brown Negley helped lead the effort to convert it. Following a $7.2 million renovation by Cambridge Seven Associates, the museum opened to the public in 1981. Today the museum spans more than twelve acres and holds nearly 30,000 works of art representing six continents and more than 5,000 years of human creativity.
