A few months into the COVID-19 pandemic, Jarrod Fox and Taylor Lintz decided they wanted to bring back the joy of entertainment that the Williamsburg community was lacking. Taking inspiration from an outdoor movie theater, Jarrod figured if people can get together and socially distance themselves to watch a movie, he could find a way to make the same thing happen with a bar. His idea, TailGate Outdoor Sports Bar, grew larger as he approached a number of venues with the concept. Taylor then quit her full-time day job to take over operations and help invest in the bar, and the rest is history. TailGate Outdoor Sports Bar was made with COVID-19 in mind to create a one-of-a-kind bar and entertainment experience. Each table fits up to 10 guests, has its own heater if needed, a 65 inch TV, a QR Code for contactless food and beverage orders, and a hand sanitizing station. Parties sit 7-8 feet apart or have plexiglass to keep a safe distance while enjoying live music, sports, food, and drinks. Jarrod and Taylor have put a strong emphasis on being inclusive: whether it be a drag show or football game, TailGate is dedicated to hosting as many fun events as they can for anyone to enjoy. Water Gap Country Club traces back to Wolf Hollow Country Club, whose 18-hole championship golf course was completed in 1922 by Robert White, a founder of the PGA. From 1926 to 1928 the course hosted the Eastern Open, drawing legends of the game including Gene Sarazen and Walter Hagen. The club went bankrupt during World War II and sat vacant for fifteen years before local golf figure Howard Knickman purchased and restored the grounds in 1957, reopening it as Water Gap Country Club. Today the resort sits on 160 acres in the Poconos, on the doorstep of the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area and the Appalachian Trail, with the championship golf course as its backdrop. The farm has roots that date back as far as 4500 years, to the time when Native Americans originally settled on the property. The Altamura Center for the Arts & Cultures sits in Round Top, New York, in the foothills of the Catskill Mountains. Founded in 1970 by soprano Carmela Bucceri Altamura and her husband Leonard Altamura, the center grew from a performing arts school into a cultural organization known for its international voice competition and immersive summer opera institute — drawing faculty from institutions including La Scala.
