Her inaugural journey, as a member of the Puget Sound Mosquito Fleet, took place on June 11, 1922, and she arrived in Seattle on June 14, 1922. The Mosquito Fleet was the world's first regional ferry system, linking coastal communities around South Puget Sound in the early twentieth century. It was through steamship that people were carried between the burgeoning port cities of Seattle and Tacoma, as well as produce and cattle from farms on Vashon Island. In the years 1922 to 1938, the VIRGINIA V served as the principal line between Seattle and Tacoma, operating via the West Pass (also known as "Colvos Passage"), which ran between Vashon Island and the Kitsap Peninsula. The S.S. VIRGINIA V is the final operating example of a steamer from the Puget Sound Mosquito Fleet, and it is still in service today. Because of her all-wood construction and steam engine, she has been designated as a National Historic Landmark ship. To learn more about a certain issue, select it from the list below. It is possible to charter the Virginia V as a venue for a variety of events including weddings, holiday parties, business events, birthdays, anniversaries, and other small gatherings. Whether you're hosting a party dockside at our homeport on Lake Union or taking your guests on a tour of Lake Washington and Puget Sound, our historic ship is the ideal location for any event. The ship's rich history and all-wood build immediately endear it to visitors. Any celebration will be more intimate because of the size. Excursions feature breathtaking views of Seattle's skyline and neighboring districts that are likely to leave a lasting effect on those who take part in them.

    Bateau

1040 E Union St, Seattle, WA 98122, USA

Bateau, french for “boat,” is both a nod to our first restaurant, Boat Street Café, as well as an attempt to reimagine the American steak house around quality, sustainability and animal welfare. With the name About Bateau, which comes from the French word for "boat," we're paying homage to our first restaurant, Boat Street Café, while also attempting to reimagine the American steakhouse in the context of quality, sustainability, and animal welfare. Traditional cattle breeds, renowned for their flavor, are the centerpiece of Bateau's whole animal menu. These cattle breeds are selected and owned by Bateau and cared for by Pure Country, a Food Alliance certified ranch located in Moses Lake, Washington. All of our cows are raised in a humane manner, fed only grass, and, most importantly, finished only on pasture. Bateau's beef is dry aged for a minimum of 21 days before being butchered on site by Scott Johnson, the butcher for the restaurant. This is certainly not the quickest, easiest, or most cost-effective method of preparing beef, but we believe it is the most effective. Along with Chef Taylor Thornhill's inventive dishes, which frequently include foraged and fermented ingredients, specialty cuts are sold by the pound or by the quantity of meat available. In addition to steakhouse classics done right, such as twice-fried frites and buttery mashed potatoes, the menu includes iconic cocktails and an extensive bottle list. The service is warm and welcoming while also being refined. Many of the fixtures and furniture pieces from Boat Street Café have been repurposed in the dining room as a nod to the former location. The rough slate tables, which are now decades old, as well as the 'Jeffry' chalk drawing by artist Curtis Steiner, will be familiar to visitors. In order to express what is happening in our corner of the world and to pay homage to our beginnings at Boat Street Café, we are attempting to create something new and exciting at Bateau. Renee Erickson, the chef and proprietor

  • Featured photo from Wind Mountain Ranch

    Wind Mountain Ranch

192 Erickson Rd, Stevenson, WA 98648, USA
    • Spaces for 300 Guests

A charred-timber gathering hall rises at the center of Wind Mountain Ranch's open meadow, its floor-to-ceiling windows framing the Cascade foothills and the forest line beyond. Completed in early 2025, the building takes its shape from the property's original timber cabins, giving the new construction the weathered, Shou Sugi Ban-inspired texture of something that has always belonged on this 22-acre property outside Stevenson, Washington, in the Columbia River Gorge. The ranch has passed through generations as farmland, orchard, and horse property before settling into its current life as a wedding venue, and that history still shows in the seven timber cabins that line its tree edge, each fitted with its own kitchenette, gas fireplace, and front porch. Couples can choose among three outdoor ceremony settings — a lily pond backed by southern mountains, a hilltop overlooking the Columbia River, or a stand of evergreens beneath windswept peaks — before gathering in the new indoor space for a reception, with room for up to 175 guests. Weddings here come with a personal venue coordinator who works with couples up to six months out, a curated collection of furniture included at no extra rental fee, and the freedom to bring in any outside vendor.

    Seabrook Town Hall

24 Front St, Copalis Crossing, WA 98571, USA
    • Spaces for 80-200 Guests
    • 1 Event Space

Wide plank wood floors, high ceilings, and soft neutral walls set the tone inside Seabrook Town Hall, where a New England-inspired exterior gives way to a bright, vaulted interior built for gatherings that feel intentional and welcoming. The open floor plan carries that clarity through into how the room works for an event: long banquet tables and seated dinners on one night, a cocktail reception with room for presentations the next, all inside a space that seats up to 80 guests or holds 120 standing. Large doors open onto adjacent outdoor areas, so a toast or cocktail hour can move outside as easily as it stays in, and the venue sits close enough to Seabrook's parks and walking paths that guests are only steps from more of the town once the doors close. The eight-hour rental includes chiavari chairs, event tables, white or black table linens, and full table settings, with setup, breakdown, and on-site support handled by the venue's team. Couples can add a ceremony package with white folding garden chairs and a champagne or Northwest cider toast for arriving guests.

Brown Family Homestead is a rustic, 15-acre outdoor wedding venue on the north side of Lake Wenatchee at the foot of Dirty Face Mountain near Leavenworth, Washington. The property has belonged to the Brown family since 1902, and the land still holds the trees, open meadows, historic buildings, and homestead animals that shaped the family's century on site. Karen Dickinson (Brown), the current custodian, and her daughter Hannah opened the homestead to outside couples in 2012 after roughly 18 months of planning, following generations of family weddings held there. Ceremonies take place at a hillside amphitheater seating up to 150 guests on blue-pine, live-edge benches, framed by meadows and mountain cliffs. Receptions move to an 80'x40' sided tent furnished with handmade dark wood dining tables and antique wooden chairs, strung with cafe lights and fitted with a 20'x20' wooden dance floor and raised stage. A large stone fire pit and a bar area with a two-keg kegerator round out the grounds, and the 100-year-old, five-bedroom log house on the property is available for lodging and bridal party preparation. The venue describes itself as suited to simple country weddings for couples who find more beauty in each other, and a mountain meadow, than they find in pricey city venues, with an easy-going, organized approach meant to keep the day stress-free.
