Glen Echo Country Club is a private club established in St. Louis, Missouri in 1901. The course was designed by Jim and Robert Foulis — Jim being the 1896 U.S. Open Champion — and hosted the Olympic Golf Matches in 1904, making the grounds a recognized landmark in American golf history. The stone clubhouse, built in 1928 and designed by Preston J. Bradshaw, provides the setting for a range of private events. The club accommodates weddings, rehearsal dinners, golf outings, corporate gatherings, and social celebrations across a suite of indoor and outdoor spaces. The Ballroom features mirrored columns and an expansive dance floor with sweeping course views, while the glass-walled Terrace overlooks the illuminated grounds. In 2014, Jonathan Staples established Black Hops Farm with the intention of supplying locally grown hops to Virginia's burgeoning alcohol sector. This was the farm's primary motivation. Originally built into a hillside as a bank barn on Tissue Farm, the structure was expanded into a working dairy operation after Edgar J. Kaufmann, Sr. acquired the property in 1940. The Western Pennsylvania Conservancy later took stewardship of the site, and a 2002 adaptive-reuse restoration by Pittsburgh architects Bohlin Cywinski Jackson preserved original details — including the gaps in the vertical siding once used for hay ventilation — while earning the building a silver LEED certification. Today the Barn hosts weddings, meetings, and private events across several distinct spaces.
